John Saul, Senior Vice President of Primary Manufacturing in GlaxoSmithKline, has been elected President of the Chemical Industries Association.

John, who is in charge of the manufacture and supply of active ingredients for GlaxoSmithKline, was elected at a meeting of the Association's Council held in London on 19 November. On his election Saul said "I am delighted to have been elected President. I think it shows the very close links between chemical and pharmaceutical businesses across the UK and I am looking forward to working with those businesses and with Steve Elliott and his team at the CIA to make sure we have an effective voice for our industry."

Steve Elliott, Chief Executive of CIA said "John's election is very good news for our members. He brings an international understanding of manufacturing, especially its link to research and development. John and I will be working together to make sure government and Europe are clear on the policies that will make chemical and pharmaceutical businesses want to invest in the UK."
