CHEMICAL INDUSTRY BACKS LAUNCH OF 2018 REGISTRATION DEADLINE UK ADVICE
The UK Chemicals Stakeholder Forum (UKCSF), the advisory body on chemicals led by Government but also including the chemical industry, NGO’s, trade unions and other stakeholders, has launched today an advice note on 2018 REACH Registration for SMEs. This initiative is a further UK stakeholder response to the Prime Minister’s Business EU Red Tape Task Force recommending that there is a need to develop more understandable guidance for smaller businesses.
Chief Executive of the Chemical Industries Association, Steve Elliott said: “As REACH is one of the most complex pieces of legislation in the history of the European Union, specifically the most burdensome for SMEs, there is scope to get it wrong, with enforcement and potential reputational consequences. It is therefore vital to get it right and not cut corners. I hope this introduction to registration will be helpful for first time registrants to consider what they need to do to meet the 2018 deadline and what can be done to tackle registration as cost-effectively as possible”.
He added: “This guidance is also a positive contribution to further support communication and working cooperation throughout the supply chain,”.
